Prepare to Celebrate Freedom This July 4th with these Patriotic Strains

Here in the U.S. sales for fireworks, grills, hamburgers and hot dogs are going to hit a year-long high in the next week as we prepared to celebrate our Independence Day. If you live in a state where cannabis is legal then you have even more reason to celebrate – your state has ended the fight to end prohibition and you are free to enjoy the herb as you please (if you’re over 21 anyway). If this happens to be you, then when you head to your dispensary to get your bud for the holiday weekend see if you can get your hands on one of these patriotic strains.

Liberty Haze

If potency is what you’re looking for then Liberty Haze has got you covered. This strain is a High Times Cannabis Cup winner from 2011 and is known for having a THC content that hovers around 25 percent. A cross between G13 and Chemdawg 91 this bud is generally lime-green with a thick coating of crystals and an abundance of red hairs, with effects that are more of a mental buzz than a physical one.

Obama Kush

Named after recent President Barack Obama this strain is a hybrid of OG Kush and the daughter of an Afghani indica strain that creates a beautiful balance of the two. It sets itself apart from other indica dominant hybrids by providing cerebral stimulation and a euphoric rush while still providing power physical effects. The buds offer a purple hue with a frosty white coating and reddish hairs and provides a dank aroma when cracked open.

Danky Doodle

Speaking of dank, this strain was originally named Double D – a reference to the large buds on the plants (we’re sure you can connect those dots) but was later renamed by breeder KC Brains. The switch was intended not to confuse the strain with Double Dutch, but it has certainly become well-known over the years. Offering a strong indica effect that will leave you with full body relaxation and likely a case of couchlock this strain has dark green, large buds that are covered in a blanket of crystals.

Spirit of ‘76

A hybrid strain bred by Kindman from Denver, Colorado, Spirit of ’76 is a flavorful blend of sativa leaning hybrid with fruity flavors. The strain is best known for its pale purple coloring and fruity and flower aroma that has been described as having hints of fruit punch and the pine musk often associated with kush strains. This particular hybrid offers very balanced effects and is great for daytime use and is likely to give the consumer a case of the munchies.
